This week has gone by so fast, I didn't even get my Monday post done yesterday! I suppose that's indicative of the pace of the Next Chapter?
This retirement thing is actually growing on me. I decided last Thursday to spend the afternoon with a little pampering so I had my nails and toes did! They look great and most certainly FEEL better so this will most certainly be a future habit. Adding that to my list for sure!
Many moments have been frustrating as we continue to deal with all the traffic on our street - residuals of the recent unfortunate event at the neighbor's house. I just don't get why cars would drive up and down this street (a cul-de-sac) gawking at pretty much nothing. I even called the police one afternoon when the same car came down the street (count them) no less than six times within one hour. No, I don't stand at my window looking out. I see everything from my desk in my home office. Call me Gladys Cravetts (remember Bewitched?) but I will always look out for my neighbors, especially now. (Hopefully by now as you're reading a video has loaded below for you to click and play...)
Speaking of neighbors, I was most blessed to participate in our Prayer Walk and Candlelight Vigil last Friday. Thanks to Jennifer for organizing this event and thanks to her parents for hosting our refreshments afterwards. Jennifer spoke so eloquently via the interview done by John Huddleston of Fox 6. I met so many of my neighbors and made new friends from the Mt. Vernon Methodist Community. I believe that participating in this time of prayer and fellowship helped to bring closure for all of us. The healing has begun and will most certainly continue in the weeks and months ahead. I look forward to spending more time with my neighbors again soon!

Our work continues as we move toward getting an estate sale organized for the Moody household. There are many items for sale so watch future posts for the official date of the sale. It is an emotional time going through so many memories and keepsakes but a necessary activity. There is an almost-new treadmill for sale right now so for those fitness enthusiasts, contact me and we'll talk.
Yesterday I attended a presentation by Cecilia Crandall on behalf of the Laura Crandall Brown Ovarian Cancer Foundation. Cecilia is Laura's mother and is very passionate about furthering our mission of bringing awareness to the symptoms of this disease. The women of Trinity United Methodist were most gracious and we really enjoyed our visit with them. You can see photos if you visit the website. Look for the news story on the home page. I so look forward to doing more of this kind of thing and am thankful to have the time now to focus in that direction.
Today is my sister Catherine's birthday. We have a tradition of enjoying a quiet dinner so this evening I look forward to spending that family time with her. She chose Fish Market and George just may plan up something very special for her. I wish her God's blessings as she looks forward to another year. Pictures and more next week.
Speaking of birthdays, I came across a wonderful video shared by more than one Facebook friend today. I just had to include this in my post. It makes me think of my new granddaughter who's on the way. Watch and you will see that by now, she is able to wiggle her fingers and toes and may even be sucking her thumb (and determining her preference - right handed or left handed). I continue to pray for this new little miracle who will make her appearance this June. New life is truly a miracle! Click to begin playing. Make sure you have your speakers on....
I've been able to spend a little time watching recorded TV. One of our favorite programs is Undercover Boss. I often get teared up watching these episodes as I see these executives investigate the inner workings of their operations "undercover." Afterwards, in hearing the stories of their employees, they often do things to help take care of their employees as regards hardships placed on them or specific family situations. One such episode was the one about the CEO of Mood Media. If you have never watched that show (and especially that episode), you should check it out. One of his employees changed his life. Family is so important. I know that while I was hard at work, my CEO always told me that family comes first. And best of all, I know he meant that.
Even while working with SCHOOLinSITES, I realized then and I realize now more and more every day that I am truly blessed beyond boundaries!
